Canon 100 400mm comparison by RaynePhotography Canon 100 400mm comparison by RaynePhotography
A comparison shot done with my new Canon 100-400L IS lens. Very impressed with the sharpness, colour, clarity and smoothness in the bokeh.

Shots taken of my daughter, about 20 metres away.

Here's something interesting (at least if ur a camera geek like I am)
Every time you double the focal length, you get 1/4 of the previous frame

So an image framed at 100mm is 4 times the size of one at 200mm
(an easy way to try it is look at the centre AF point and one of the corners of the frame, when you double the focal length, that area will now fill the frame)

Oh and look after that lens, every one I have seen has gone "off" after being knocked around, a trip to canon normally fixes them though

Very interesting! :), and don't worry about this lens! i look after all of mine as I do my cars, pedantically! :).
I guess the mm on my 40D would be 160mm - 640mm with the crop factor.
